Classroom Expectations - Mrs. Sara Jans

Welcome to my classroom! It is my hope that this year will be filled with exciting opportunities and new learning experiences!

Attendance and preparedness are two major keys to success in my classroom. When you are not present in class, you miss instruction as well as access to your teacher for help on your assignments. If you need to be absent form class, it is your responsibility to approach me for missed work and information.

You must have your agenda with you at all times. You will not be allowed to leave the classroom without it. We will be writing in our agenda everyday and it is your responsibility to keep track of it. If you lose your agenda, you may purchase a new one at the office AT YOUR EXPENSE.

Having the appropriate materials for class will also help you to be successful. I will be happy to lend you materials before the second bell. You will need a binder, lots of loose leaf paper, pencils, a free reading novel, a water bottle, pens and markers or pencil crayons everyday when you come to class. Do not expect to borrow these supplies from your classmates or me. Bringing them to class is your responsibility. They are required for every class. Please do not bring toys, gameboys or junk food to my class These things only distract you from your learning. You are welcome to bring a healthy snack such as fruit, veggie, a muffin or yogurt.

Class begins promptly at the second bell. It is expected that students are sitting in their desks and ready to learn at this time.

It is paramount that we all respect the learning environment of others. Please listen while others are talking. If you would like to contribute to the discussion, raise your hand and wait to be recognized by the teacher. Be mindful that you are at school. Please use tone, mannerisms, and language that is appropriate. (If you wouldn't say it around your grandmother, don't say it in my classroom.)

It is important that everyone have an opportunity to learn. Please keep your work area clean. Individual work will be done quietly, Group work will be done at a volume predetermined by the teacher. Please allow others in the classroom to work without distraction.

Consequences 1. Verbal Warning from the teacher. 2. Temporary removal from the activity. 3. Phone call home. 4. Exclusion from class. a. Severe defiance will result in immediate exclusion from class. Let's have a great year together!!
