Showcase - Open House

Each Spring on or near Education Week Alexandra Middle School hosts Showcase, open house. Showcase is an opportunity to "show off" some of the fine work students are doing at school. Concerts, classroom activities, displays of student work, a drama production, along with some coffee, tea, juice and dessert make for an excellent evening for all. School Council typically hosts a bake sale and some years we also have a White Elephant (yard) Sale. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. and continues until 9:00 p.m.

Alexandra was built in 1909 as a high school and we have been working with the middle grades for over 50 years. Former students are invited to visit the library and view yearbooks from 1955 to the present. This may bring back many fond memories.

The public also has the opportunity to view the cooking demonstration in the Foods Lab or the wood working demonstrations in the Construction Lab. Many other subject area displays, many of which are hands-on, such as Science, Art, and Information Technology have been set up for viewing.

Alexandra Middle School is truly an exciting learning environment because of our outstanding students and staff. Please feel free to come and join us at Showcase.

School Council Bake Sale

We need your help!

In conjunction with the AMS SHOWCASE, the School Council sponsors a "bake sale" in the front foyer of our school from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The proceeds help finance the School Council Awards that are given annually at the fall Awards Night ceremony as well as other School Council projects. We need the communities support to visit our open house and purchase the bake goods.

We need the parents and students support in bringing in the baked goods from home (or bakery if pressed to time as we often are) or cash donations. We also need parent volunteers to work the bake table in one of two shifts 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. A form is completed ahead of time so we can plan for events and see which parents are available to work the bake table.

Baking is brought in to the school staff room the morning of the Showcase. Intramural points will be awarded to student's class donating to the bake sale. It is requested that a suggested price on the baking, as well as the student's homeroom.

Note: The Grade 7 and 8 band students are asked to bring in a snack of some kind to be served to the public that evening. They are to bring them that evening, before their performance, to the M.P.R. This is separate from a donation to the School Council bake sale.
